Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe smirked slyly. "Big threats for such a little boy."
She pressed her finger against the sword's tip, giggling manically. "What a big butter knife you have there. I suppose after you've lopped off all my hair, you're gonna run it through me?" She started circling the siblings, much like a panther would. "It's nothing but a bluff isn't it? You'd never hurt a woman half your size, would you? Small, delicate, innocent woman? It's all empty threats. Big words. We'll see..." the elf fell into a silent ponder.
"We'll see..." Feythe repeated her words, "We'll see how big you are when I do this."
With movements as quick as a falcon, the girl grabbed the tip of the blade in her dainty hands.
Its usual steely hue started to glow a vibrant blue, electrical charges pulses up through the sword and into the pommel; they began to climb up the boy's arm. A white-blue light suddenly burst between the elf's hand and the sword, throwing the two siblings backwards at least twenty feet.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Elijah and Leah flew back through the air, crashing into a hut so hard they cracked the mortar. They landed in a heap in the itchy shrubs in front of the wall.
Silence ensued. Loren, despite his show of hunger and hatred, gave a concerned dip of the head, listening for any movement from the two. He heard none. Maus came up from behind Loren, his small funnel ears alert and pricked forward. Complete silence from the village, as all the onlookers didn't even dare murmur.
Elijah finally moaned as the pain subsided enough for him to move. He could hear some bone in his pelvis crunching in agony. He rolled over on the flattened shrub and looked around, his vision swimming. He saw the crowd looking at him, some of them worried, others blank, and then he saw that woman: satisfied. Even though some of the crowd was obviously worried about his welfare, they thought it taboo to step in now. He got to his feet, swaying. He knew it now, his pelvis was either broken or fractured, but whatever it was, it didn't feel great. Then he glared at the people. "What are you looking at, you bunch of tourists?" He complained weakly and went over to his sister, who had gotten to her knees and was slowly getting up. He lent her a hand, which she refused and made the rest of the journey herself. Then she went up to the blonde man, looked up into his eyes, and smiled. "Just so you know," Then she rose her leg and swung around, raking her ruined hightop across his jaw. She spat in his face as he went down, "I'm not a child."

Feythe whined pitifully and went to Kaun, "To us you are," she knelt by him and scooped the he-elf up into her arms.
"Poor baby," she cooed softly, cradling him. She glanced up at Elijah. "Is something broken?" Her voice suddenly contrasted with the tone she used with Kaun. It was much brisker and business-like.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Elijah gave the woman elf a look of bafflement. "No, lady, I'm just standing here like a gimp for my friggin' health." He rolled his eyes and shook his head at the same time, looking over at his sister, then, for encouragement. She came to his side, bringing her leg up to wipe the blonde man's blood off the sidewall of her boot, and smirked.
Kaun blinked hard a couple times and looked up at his love, her anger dissolving with his injury. "That was a good kick," He muttered with admiration, sitting up and rubbing his jaw. He felt a small slit where the hard tread had splayed him open and he could taste blood. The girl called out, "Anytime, pal!" and she meant it, but still smirked at her ability. Kaun drew up his legs and got to his feet, bringing Feythe up with him. Then, in a whirlwind of emotion, he lifted her onto his shoes and kissed her. His gashed jaw sent out waves of protest, but he could feel nothing now but euphoria.

Feythe's tongue cringe at the metallic twang of blood. Nevertheless, she kissed him back, taking care not to split his lip further. She jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"Let me tend to your lip," she murmured against his lips, "Then I'll see to the boy."

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Kaun stumbled back as Feythe launched herself on him, but caught himself and smiled beyond the kiss. The smile sent a small dash of pain to his injury, but he couldn't help himself. He swung her around slowly, setting her mahogany curtain to dancing.
Elijah and Leah watched the scene with a mixture of emotions. Leah's eyes widened with both awe and disgust as she saw the woman who had just moments before attacked her dissolve into a romantic stupor. Elijah simply turned around, scoffing and rolling his eyes once again. He felt of his hip gently and moved it a miniscule amount, cringing as it crunched beneath his fingertips. He sighed. Leah felt of her sore ankle, which was still throbbing pitifully. She groaned, slowly dropped it to the ground, then ran her hands over her face, rubbing her eyes, waiting for this sappy scene to dissipate. Loren walked up stealthily behind Leah and lowered his head to hers. "You've got some fine moves," He rumbled. She saw him and screamed, jumping back into Elijah. Elijah yelled, "Hey! Watch it, scale bag, with my sister!" Loren grinned and gave him a puff of smoke to reply.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe kissed Kaun's lip gently. Within seconds, the skin began to heal, "Feel better, dear?" She smiled, glancing the siblings, "Would you like me to tend to your injuries or would you rather cripple for life?"
Alexsys trod lazily out of the forest. He yawned loudly and lay his bulk down on the ground, tucking his forelegs right under his chest, "Did I miss anything?"

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Elijah turned back around and shrugged. "Depends. Are you gonna blast me again?" He chuckled, then made his way over to the woman. "Alright, fine." Leah reluctantly shadowed him, looking warily over at the massive dragon that just popped out of the woods. He had to be twice or three times the size of the black one. After a minute, she got used to his presence, stretched her arms and gave the male elf a smile. "Pretty swift healing there." She pointed to the area on the right side of his jaw where just a small scar remained. "You've got a souvenir," She said with more than a hint of scorn, quirking an eyebrow.
Kaun smiled down at the young woman. "You've got some guts to talk to me like that, you know that, right?" She looked at him boredly. "Why, cause you got malformed ears?" Her laugh was bell-like, he noticed, and narrowed his eyes at her smile. Something in him felt odd when she smiled. I'll always wait for you, brother. 'Till the heavens fall, and the gods are men. His mind flashed to the past, and he inhaled sharply. "What?" She asked, lowering her brows as if offended. He shook his head. "You remind me of someone I once knew." He explained in a soft voice. Leah gave him a sarcastic nod, and smiled again, shaking her head and looking away. He cringed. Elijah asked Feythe, "Is this gonna hurt? Cause I'll sue." He remarked snidely.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Alexsys lowered his head down to eye-level and blew his humid breath over Leah. He offered her a grin edged with rapier-sharp teeth, Come closer... I don't bite... much. He chortled softly.
Feythe giggled, "I'll make sure it does," she smiled twistedly, standing up and snatching up Elijah.
She took a firm grip of his wrist and let the magic surge through her and into the boy. A moment later the elf dropped the contact, "If you wreak havoc, you must be prepared to clean up, boy."
Feythe then turned to Leah. Her eyes regarded the girl coldly.
"I durno," she shrugged, tossing her mahogany locks over her shoulder, "I don't really feel like helping you."
Go on Feythe, the dragon laughed, I like my prey fit for the chase. Otherwise it's just pure slaughter.
"We're not the malformed ones. You are," she frowned, studying the girl's face intently, "With your messed up bone structure and your rounded ears."
She grabbed her arm and let go of another pulse of magic, "Feel better? Good. Be prepared to lose your tongue if you continue with the snide remarks." Her pallid eyes twinkled dangerously.
Alexsys yawned boredly and started cleaning himself.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Leah gave the elf and her dragon a snarl, and yanked her arm away, "Well, I didn't ask for your help." She crossed her arms and huddled up next to her brother, who was now twisting his pelvis as a test. He raised his eyebrows. "Pretty cool, I guess. Now what?" He looked around at the crowd. Then they heard footsteps coming from up the hill and turned around to see a tall elf in his mid-30s strolling towards them. Kaun recognized him right away as the appointed leader of the village. "Bayun!" He called with surprise as the figure plodded closer, coming to rest in front of the human siblings. He was lean, long, with a runner's body, and long wavy brown hair was fluttering about his face. "Hello, Kaun." He said in a deep voice, then bent to pick up the sword Elijah had confiscated. "I believe this belongs to me." Elijah smirked as the man named Bayun shoved the sword into his belt.
"Now. This interesting young man was going to be staying with me tonight, then escorted back to his... home." Bayun said the last word reluctantly. "But, since the two have found out a certain well-kept secret, I'm afraid we're going to have to take other measures to ensure that certain secret doesn't get past their lips." Loren took those words as a cue to step forward from beside Feythe and bare his teeth. Kaun gave him an odd look, wondering if he meant the children would have to die. But Bayun, as if knowing his thoughts, shook his head. "I didn't mean that. What I meant is..." He scanned the crowd of people as if daring them to say anything of protest to what he was about to utter. "We're going to have to... keep them."

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe scoffed. She slunk over to Alexsys and perched herself on one of his fore-paws, "Like pets?"
A grin began to unfurl on her lips, she gave Leah and Elijah a condescending glare. She turned to the dragons scales, which contained a mirror like quality.
The elf tousled her dark hair and began to preen herself, "Well, don't expect me to have anything to do with them. Because they're cocky brats, and I refuse point-blank to."
Alexsys chortled. He lowered his head to Bayun. [i]You'll have to excuse her. Her moods vary from estatic to livid within seconds.[i]
Feythe snorted and flicked his knuckle with her hand violently. Alexsys withdrew his head and curled up.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Bayun watched as the entire crowd gaped. "Yes, I said that!" he yelled over the growing din of the people's protests. "And if you don't like it, perhaps you'd like to step forward and say it to my face." He said with a gentle but intimidating voice that quieted most everyone. He then cocked an eyebrow at Feythe, then looked over at Kaun, who gave a quirk of his mouth as if to say 'Yes, she's with me.' Bayun shrugged; it didn't matter either way to him, although he was happy to see Kaun finally find someone, regardless of how nutzo the girl might be. Leah huffed, "What do you mean keep us? We're not frigging lab rats! This is racism," She muttered the last bit to Elijah. Elijah just smiled and whispered into her hair, "No, it's worse."
Bayun spread his hands. "You have to understand, we.... we've been keeping this a secret for millenia. You can't just expect us to let you go home. What if we did, and you went and told everyone you know." Kaun tilted his head, "No one would believe them." He said with a cunning smile. Bayun nodded, "Yes, but we can't take the chance. You understand, of course." He said to Elijah. Elijah nodded. "Oh yeah, this is just like walking into effing Area 51. Of course you can't just leave. You have to pay." He scoffed, rolling his eyes.
Bayun shrugged again, "I suppose so." He thought for a moment. "I think the best course of action would be to escort them to the capital, so that the king may decide what to do." Elijah waved his hands. "HOHOHO wait! Look, pal. We don't want to be here any more than you want us to. We just wanna go back home." Leah murmured sadly, "We have no home, Lijah. Remember? We left the orphanage in the middle of the night? There's probably a whole police force out looking for us right now." Bayun lifted an eyebrow. "It seems as if you two have nothing better to do, anyway." Elijah's blue eyes burned with uncertainty as he pulled his sister closer, thinking of what to do. They could run. Dash off right now. But they'd likely be cut off short by those dragons. And if they didn't, the orphanage would probably ship them off somewhere as punishment for running. So he supposed there was nothing he could do. And he hated that.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe cocked an amused eye at Elijah, "No, rats are cunning... you're more like... mice," she giggled manically and ruffled up her hair some more.
Alexsys recoiled from the elf, as if he'd been stung, I fear for her sanity... he murmured to his company.
She stared into his scales for a few moments before flouncing over to Kaun.
Feythe smiled, listening to the conversation intently before intervening, "I'm sorry. But who exactly will be doing the escorting?" she giggled softly, linking her arm through Kaun's.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Elijah gave Feythe a sidelong look, chuckling as if she was just a child. "Yeah sure, lady. Whatever you say." he muttered and rested his chin on his teeny sister's head. "And yes, who will be escorting the 'mice' to the el capitan?" He said goofily, the shock of discovering an alien race beginning to wear off and a strange sense of normality coming to him. Maybe this was where he belonged, he thought distantly. He and his sister had never been normal. Perhaps they were meant to do this. Maybe it was their fate. Besides, there wasn't much to do about it now, even if he didn't want to be there. They were stuck, so he had might as well get used to it.
Bayun's arctic grey eyes scanned the crowd with owlish wisdom. "I suppose, being that you have one of the only horses, besides mine, that you would be a good choice, Kaun." He smiled in his direction. Kaun looked up from under his eyebrows, glaring up at Bayun. "I think not. I've just got here, I've had more of a stressful experience these last severals monthes than you will likely ever encounter, and likely I'm being hunted by every authority in the known world, so I'd like some relaxation, if you please." Bayun raised his eyebrows at the part about being hunted, but Kaun's heated words told him not to press the issue. "Well, it's nearly 11 at night, so I suppose I'll let you sleep on it." He grinned and turned to Leah and Elijah once more. "You two. Are going to be watched. Like hawks. Clear?" Elijah gave a crooked smile. "Crystal."

Feythe grinned madly and cuddled into Kaun, "Give them a wheel and some bedding and they'll be fine," she snickered and looked at Elijah, "The name's Feythe, boy. F-E-Y-T-H-E. Feythe."
Alexsys yawned, stretched and plodded away into the forest to find somewhere cosy to sleep.
The elf giggled at Bayun, "They won't need to be watched like hawks. They'll be happy enough on their wheel." She smiled patronisingly at the children. "Bless them."

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Elijah settled into Bayun's guest bed, his sister snuggled tightly into the crook of his back with one arm flung over his waist. He lay on his side, his eyes open but unfocused, a sad disance in them. What have I gotten my little sister into? he thought with concern. We never should have ran from the orphanage. Now we're here, alone with nobody like us, once again. And it's my fault. But, at least, he thought, this bed was warm and plush. That's what he'd have to hold onto for now. Just think about now, Elijah. Do what you can now. Which is what? he wondered. Nothing. That's what. He'd have to listen to these strange people until he could make a plan. Maybe once they left the village they could get away...With that thought in his midn he drifted into sleep.
The next morning came sooner than Kaun would have liked. He barreled out of Helesia's old, worn screen door, pulling on a white linen shirt, but leaving unbuttoned, his chest displayed for all the village women to notice. But he didn't care about that right now. Helesia walked out behind him, leaning on the doorway and giving him a smile, seemingly not even taking note of his bare chest. Nothing he did shocked her. She just looked at him for a long while, until he finally replied, "Okay, what?" She just grinned wider and shook her head. "You are a magnet for...I don't even know what. Misfortune doesn't even describe it." Kaun just shrugged and picked up his boots from the porch floor, pulling them on quickly. "Yeah, it must be karma. Maybe I'll get some peace one of these days. Right now I gotta go find my girlfriend." With that, he strolled back into the house.
Maus stood patiently as Bayun placed a long smooth saddle on his back. "I don't really think this is necessary." Maus said, looking back at the simple navy saddle pad and saddle. "Maybe not, but it's what the children are used to. I'm sure they've never even ridden a horse, let alone a Hurei." Hurei was the word of the native elven language that meant horse. Loren watched, lounging like a cat behind Bayun.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe hummed to herself as she patted herself dry with a towel. With her icy eyes, she surveyed the bathroom before loping back into her room and dropping the plush curtain in exchange for her undergarments. Then, she slid on a cream-coloured, loose, linen shirt which clung to her figure in a flattering fashion.
It was a personal favourite, the shirt was; it ended just short of her coccyx bone, the collar was embroidered and the buttons allowed for a certain amount of flesh to be shown.
The elf snatched up her brush, bejewelled with a huge disc of mother-of-pearl and began to brush her intense brown, mahogany locks with long, patient strokes. Her hair was the only thing she could bare to spend more than ten minutes of her time on. It was her pride and joy, in a way. In fact, she could spend all day preening and brushing her luscious locks, trying different styles with it because she loved it just so.
Feythe giggled to herself and started pulling her curtain of hair into her neat twist to keep it out of harm's way.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Kaun strolled down the second story hallway in search of Feythe. He noticed one door had a thin strip of light peering out from under it. He raised an eyebrow, not knowing whether this was a bed- or bathroom, and gently tapped on the door with his knuckle. "Hello?" He murmured in question. When he heard no movement or voices from the other side he slowly twisted the glass knob and opened the door. "Whoa-hoho!" He exclaimed when he saw his love in a skimpy shirt and turned around, not knowing exactly what or if she was wearing anything under it. "Sorry, dear." He said while still turned away.
Maus gnawed at the cumbersome bit that Bayun had convinced him to wear for the kid's sake. This is why he hated children, human or not. Well, he didn't hate them per se - just found them a bit more trouble than they were worth. Bayun led him by his rein, another humiliating act, to the siblings Leah and Elijah who were waiting at his house atop the hill. They were showered and clean, their hair freshly brushed. Despite their sullen expressions, Maus had to note that they were two fine-looking young people....even though they were so much different than the people of his land. "Alright, you two." Bayun said, leaving Maus while he brought his other horse, a big, beefy stallion with a buttery coat, and a flaxen mane and tail, looking like a small draft horse, to rest beside Maus. Maus looked up at the imposing figure, who just stared blankly at his master. He acted nearly like a human horse. Bayun gestured for the two children to come.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe spun around in surprise. She emitted a little shriek and flung her floor-length cape over herself to protect her modestly. After a moment, she stooped down and picked up one of her heavily gilded boots.
She hefted it, then aimed it at Kaun's shoulder, "Out! Get out, get out, get out, GET OUT!" The elf shrieked hysterically before lobbing the boot at him.
Cyees snorted dully. She heaved herself to her feet and stretched; analysing her surroundings with lazy eyes. She blinked, yawned, then trotted out of the brush to Maus' side. Her eyes darted around nervously, the pony looked to Alexsys for reassurance. He inclined his head to indicate the safety of the scene before them. With a neurotic twitch, Cyees nosed Maus. She snorted softly, her velveteen muzzle pulled at the bridle that clad his face.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Kaun ducked and threw up his arms over his head out of instinct. but by ducking he came eye-to-eye with the speeding boot and it nailed him right between the eyes. "Gah!" He cried, scuttling backwards as the boot fell to the floor with a clunk. Pacing backwards down the hallway he pressed the heels of his hands to his brow, rubbing the spot with a fury. A murderous headache began to probe at his skull. "God that hurt", he muttered, wondering how a boot could do so much damage whilst he still paced back, eyes shut tight. By the time he reached the end of the hall and middle thigh brushed the railing, it was too late to react. Kaun only had time to open his eyes and see the ceiling recede before he hit the hardwood floor. A loud tunk rang out as he rolled over onto his bare stomach with a groan, "Auuuuuhhh." Helesia ruhed into the front door to see him spread-eagle on the foyer floor. She started laughing. "Kaun, you're accident-prone." She commented between giggles.
Maus gave his head a miniscule toss as Cyees nipped his bridle, expressing his annoyment at the whole situation. Leah gave the small greyish pony a look, her eyes growing wide. Of course she dare not say it, but she thought the little thing was very cute. But she didn't know who owned it. What if was that one psycho lady? If so, she would definitely not be voicing her admiration anytime soon. She strolled up to Maus, barely reaching her fingers out to the small white pony's muzzle. The guy named Bayun grabbed her foot without warning and hefted her into the saddle. Maus snorted loudly in protest and stomped his foot.

Feythe grumbled irritably to herself, slamming the door shut forcefully. She slid into a pair of tight linen trousers, then snatched up her boots.
They ended just short of the middle of her thigh, gilded with white gold and polished so intensely, one could see their reflection in them. She buttoned her blouse, though she allowed a teasing amount of flesh left to prying eyes. The elf then strapped herself into a leather corsette, which lay comfortably over the precious blouse.
With one more steal of her reflection in the mirror, Feythe ambled out of the room, across the hallway and down the stairs. Her boots made muffled clicks against the floorboards as she flounced from step to step.
She giggled loudly as her icy eyes fell upon Kaun's dishevelled figure, "What happened to you?"
Cyees' silvery, pupil-less eyes eyes analysed Leah warily. She whickered a coy greeting to the girl, then turned to Maus. She nosed his neck comfortingly.

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Kaun propped himself up on one elbow, using his free hand to rub his lower back. "You did," He replied to Feythe, looking up at her from under his eyebrows with a sly smile. Then he got to his feet, his vision spinning as the blood rushed from his head. Feythe's image blurred and swayed for a minute until he caught himself. He shook his head violently, sending a spray of blonde hair into his face while he straightened out his small, dime-sized cufflinks that were plated with glimmering mother-of-pearl. Helesia looked on the whole scene from the corner, eyes twinkling with amusement and a smile playing on her lips. She crossed her arms and withheld a laugh. Kaun gave her a playful, warning look and headed out the door, expecting Feythe to join him. The sun outside was glowing brilliantly onto the whole scene, bathing everything in a buttery glow. The village people were gathering themselves, strolling about the village casually; Enai waved at them from where she stood on the arched wooden bridge nearby, her small terrier dog at her feet. Kaun looked up, the light streaming through the hair that blew about his eyes. He saw three horses lined up by the house on the hill. Maus and Cyees, he recognized, and Bayun's old horse Ryn standing patiently by. Kaun could hardly believe that Bayun still owned the poor creature, after all these years. Ryn was, of course, immortal like the rest of the Hurei, but a slightly dim bulb in his noggin aged him.
"You can take it, Maus," Kaun said through an unabashed smile as he watched the stallion visibly chafing underneath that saddle. Elijah was settling into his seat atop Ryn, a bit uncertain at first but quickly liking the feel of it. "I'm a natural!" He cried. Bayun stood aside. "Nearly time to go. I'd say we should leave within the next ten minutes if you want to reach the capital by dawn."

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe trotted after Kaun, "I didn't happen; YOU walked in on ME!" She grinned cunningly, watching the he-elf with her sparkling eyes.
She took up his hand and smiled, leaning her minuscule amount of weight against him. It was to be short lived however, when the girl's eyes finally found what they were searching for.
"Cyees!" She giggled, dropping her contact with Kaun to run to the little grey mare, "Where did you run off to? I missed you!"
Cyees blew a sigh of content, she nosed the elf's arm affectionately, her eyes brimming with adoration. She shifted her stance to ease the weight off her right and onto her left hind leg, then continued to nose her master's arm.
Feythe tangled her dainty hands in Cyees' downy mane. In one fluid movement, she had heaved herself onto the mare's back.
She glanced at Kaun, offering him her most irresistible, puppy-eyed look, "Ride with me, will you?"

Re: The Teiyis Riders
Kaun grinned at Feythe, their eyes level. "Of course." He smoothly slid onto Cyees' back, hoping his weight wouldn't bother the small pony much. Then he realized something and looked over at Bayun who was looking up at all th mounted people while he stood horseless. "Aren't you coming?" He asked, sliding off again. Bayun gave a lat glance at the lineup of horses, his eyes worried and uncertain. "I see no need. Besides, we're out of horses." He gave a tight grin, obviously worried about the children's welfare since he wouldn't be going. Kaun patted him on the back. "We'll take care of them." Elijah leaned back in his saddle to lay on Ryn's rump. "I can watch over myself AND my little sister, thank you." He said with a cunning grin, raising his tattooed arms behind his head.
Re: The Teiyis Riders
Feythe giggled softly, stroking her hands down Cyees' neck fondly, "If you mean 'taking care of yourself' as in 'I'll hold a sword and get blasted off my feet,' then we're all doomed."
Cyees tossed her head skyward, pawing the ground. The elf took no notice of the pony's impatient antics, she turned her head to Kaun, holding her hand out to him, "Come on dear. We'd best be going," she smiled encouragingly.
